Hillary Hughes

Hillary joined the Dumbarton House team first as a summer intern in the Education Department in 2016. After completing her Masters in American History with a concentration in historic preservation and a focus on race in Colonial American at The George Washington University, Hillary re-joined the Dumbarton team. Hillary now oversees all event rentals at Dumbarton House; negotiating contracts, scheduling site visits with engaged couples, vendors and corporate clients. A San Diego native, Hillary’s passion for House Museums was sparked while volunteering at the Whaley House Museum in her hometown, which lead to a job and quickly followed by the inspiration and drive to attend graduate school on the East Coast.

Hillary may be from southern California but has never taken a liking to surfing, despite trying it many times. She spends her free time trying to find quality Mexican food in the DMV area and once even drove an hour to try a new taco shop! When not going on crazy road trips in search of decent tacos, Hillary loves to swing, ballroom and salsa dance, explore DC, go wine tasting, binge watch new TV shows (specifically mystery or Sci-Fi shows!) as well as cuddle with her two kitties Huey and Gypsy.
