Curator Talk: STEM in the Historic House

June 28 @ 2:00 pm-3:30 pm

Join guest curator James Stewart for a talk about our exhibition STEM in the Historic House. This exhibit explores the role of science, technology, engineering, and math in preserving historic structures. Following James’ talk, we will teach you how wallpaper was made in 1800s using common household items- paper, paint, and an apple or potato! Admission to this program is pay-what-you-wish.

James is a docent and public programs assistant at Dumbarton House. When he is not at Dumbarton House he works as a full-time visitor guide at the U.S. Capitol Visitor Center. He has a BA in Art History and History with a minor in Museum Studies from the University of Mary Washington and a MA in Art History from The George Washington University. The exhibit “STEM in the Historic House” was his internship project during the Fall of 2018.
