March 9 @ 6:30 pm-9:30 pm
Join neighbors and local history lovers to properly “Welcome Pierre” with a gathering and a grateful toast to the architect of our unique National Capital! When Major Pierre Charles L’Enfant arrived in Georgetown to design the Federal City on March 9th, 1791 he was both unexpected and unheralded. His letter of introduction never arrived and no one was prepared for his visit. To offset this disappointing introduction, local organizations and historic sites have organized “Welcome Pierre,” a festival of belated celebration, for the last three decades. You’re invited to this festive civic celebration of the 228th anniversary of L’Enfant’s arrival.
