7th Annual Day of Archaeology Festival

Join Archaeology in the Community (AITC) for the 7th Annual Day of Archaeology festival at Dumbarton House!

The International Day of Archaeology aims to raise public awareness of the relevance and importance of archaeology in the modern world. This festival is dedicated to the archaeology, history, and preservation of Washington, DC area and invites the public to learn in fun and interactive ways. For the 7th year, AITC is bringing together archaeology organizations from DC, Maryland, and Virginia to celebrate the Day of Archaeology Festival.

This event is a fun-filled day for both adults and children. Children can get hands-on with in mock-excavations, crafts, and 3D printed artifacts. Speak with archaeologists in person and learn abou their projects locally and globally. There will be live music, family activities, face painting and food trucks for all to enjoy.

The Day of Archaeology Festival is a great way to learn about DC’s local history and visit Dumbarton House!

Concerts are held in the museum’s Belle Vue Room, which can be accessed through the lower terrace off the parking lot.

Groups are welcome. Seats are available on a first come, first served basis.

DKMC Walk Weekend

Stretch your legs and your mind during the 35th Annual Dupont Kalorama Museum Walk (June 2 and 3, 2018). Five diverse museums will open their doors free of charge for this weekend long celebration in one of Washington, D.C.’s most beautiful neighborhoods. Discover Anderson HouseDumbarton HouseNational Museum of American Jewish Military HistoryThe Phillips Collection, and the President Woodrow Wilson House free of charge.

Special events at Dumbarton House include an artist talk with Curtis Woody on his exhibit A Sketch of Slavery in the District of Columbia, on Saturday from 1 – 2 p.m. and the kick-off our annual Sunday Serenity Yoga at 10am in the North Garden.
