Sit back, relax and let Santa’s helpers serve you during this magical holiday experience. Visit with Santa and hear a special holiday story. Families enjoy a delicious holiday tea complete with special holiday tea blends, hot apple cider, sandwiches and desserts. After taking tea, children decorate their own gingerbread cookies to take home.

Dolley Days

Enjoy free museum admission, kids’ activities, and ice cream! Bring a picnic and enjoy our grounds throughout the day – Saturday & Sunday, August 27 & 28; 11am-3pm; FREE.

We will offer special guided and self-guided tours in celebration of Dolley Madison’s stop at Dumbarton House on August 24, 1814 during the burning of Washington! Guided tours will be offered every 15 minutes (except between 1pm-1:30pm) and self guided tours will be available throughout the day. Last tour will begin at 2:30pm.

On Sunday, our English Country Dance group will host an open, free rehearsal from 12:30-2:45pm in the Bellevue Room. Come and take spin around the ballroom.

On Saturday, join our monthly Georgetown Walking tour from 1-3pm. Explore the neighborhood surrounding Dumbarton House! Meander through this historic neighborhood and let Dwane Starlin, member of the Guild of Professional Tour Guides, take you to the mansions, servants’ quarters and cemeteries of the apogee of Georgetown. Homeschool History Day: Farm to Table at Dumbarton House

Were Federal period households energy efficient? How do we interact with our environment? Students will explore the inside and outside of Dumbarton House to learn more about where our food comes from and how to be more responsible citizens of the Earth. By using herbs cut in Dumbarton House’s own garden students will feel even more connected to the historic site.

 

 

Time: 1-3pm

Cost: $6 students, $3 adults

Age: Programs are open to students ages 5-12.
