Picnic Theater Company Presents Agatha Christie’s “The Unexpected Guest”

On November 1st, 2nd and 3rd, join Picnic Theatre Company at Dumbarton House for cocktail party theatre and an evening of campy suspense with Agatha Christie’s The Unexpected Guest! Set in a foggy estate in Wales in 1958, this classic mystery begins in a dark mansion at the scene of a heinous crime.  As each quirky member of the isolated household is questioned, investigators reveal a tangled web of lies, family secrets and chilling motives. Will the killer strike again?

Enjoy cocktails, refreshments, and music on the Belle Vue Room patio at 6:30, then a one-hour one-act performance seated in the ballroom at 7:30pm. Proceeds benefit Dumbarton House’s historic preservation and Courage for Kids. Tickets are $12 in advance, $15 at the door.

The Unexpected Guest is presented by special arrangement with SAMUEL FRENCH, INC.

Is there assigned seating/do I have a reserved seat?

There is General Admission seating in the Bellevue ballroom until capacity, and additional standing cocktail tables in the back near the bar to enjoy the performance.

I only see one date for the performance, how do I select another?

When purchasing tickets you can select the date from the drop down menu. If an event is sold out, it will be listed on the date.

If one date is sold out, will there still be tickets available at the door?

We typically have some tickets for sale at the door, even if the event is sold out online. We suggest arriving promptly at 6:30pm if you’re coming to a sold out performance.

Are there ID requirements or an age limit to enter the event?

This event is open to all ages. Please have your ID if you would like to purchase alcoholic beverages.

What are my transport/parking options getting to the event?

Dumbarton House is located .6 miles from the Dupont Metro. The D2/D6 bus is located on the corner of Q St. & 27th. There is two hour parking nearby. Additionally, we have a small lot located behind the house, just off of 27th street.

What can/can’t I bring to the event?

Please no pets or outside food and drink.

6:00pm grounds open for wine and refreshments

7:00pm performance begins (approximately 1 hour)

General Admission: $12 in advance, $15 at the door

Picnic Theatre Company returns June 14, 15 and 16 to Dumbarton House. A brilliant 1925 comedy of bad manners at a weekend house party Noel Coward’s “Hay Fever” will be performed as a one-act production in an outdoor garden.

Bring your picnic blankets for garden seating. Wine and refreshments are available for purchase. Outside food is permitted, but please no outside alcohol.

Rain or shine the show will go on! In the event of rain, the reception and performance will take place in Belle Vue Room at Dumbarton House.
