SUMMARY:Picnic Theatre Company Performance – The Campaign (A Parody)
DESCRIPTION:\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nOn Thursday June 13, join us as Picnic Theatre Company returns to the beautiful Dumbarton House garden in Georgetown with an original parody play adaptation of The Candidate, set in 1972!\n\n\n\nWhat would you do if you could say anything you wanted to get elected? In this satire of electoral politics in America, the heir of a famous political family is tapped to run a hopeless campaign against a powerful incumbent Senator. Be transported to the 1970s with music and costumes on the campaign trail. The comedy reveals divisions in American politics and society that still resonate in 2024.\n\n\n\nDumbarton House:\n\n\n\n2715 Q Street NW, Washington DC, 20007\n\n\n\n6:00 p.m. Picnic and cocktails\n\n\n\n7:00 p.m. Performance (90 minutes)\n\n\n\nBring a blanket for picnic seating. According to the Financial Times, “The Picnic Theatre Company’s bipartisan players…spend their days running the country and their evenings running the show.” Picnic Theatre audience goers enjoy one-act cocktail and garden party performances of classic plays in beautiful and exciting historic venues, gardens and Embassies. Washington professionals, journalists and diplomats by day, the all-volunteer Picnic Theatre players donate proceeds of performances to historical preservation of museums, and arts and education charities. www.facebook.com/PicnicTheatre\n
