Karen L. Daily
Karen, a museum professional dedicated to preserving our nation’s history for future generations, has led Dumbarton House, the headquarters of NSCDA, as the Executive Director since 2008. Before becoming the Executive Director, Karen served as education director at Dumbarton House and taught fourth grade in the District of Columbia Public Schools. She credits her parents’ insistence on history-themed vacations as a child (think: Valley Forge) and her incredible undergraduate experience at the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, VA, for her passion for preservation.
Karen’s daily work covers various aspects, including strategic planning, institutional advancement, staff management and financial oversight. Karen has been awarded the William A. Cochran Award by the Citizens Association of Georgetown and, during her tenure Dumbarton House was awarded the Communitarian Award by the Georgetown Business Association. Currently, Karen also serves as a board member of the Virginia Association of Museums and the Georgetown Business Association.
Karen joined Dumbarton House in 2003.
Fun Fact: A proud New Jersey native, she enjoys vacationing at National Parks with her husband and two young children.
