Sheridan Small

Director of Education

Sheridan started at Dumbarton House as a Visitor Engagement Specialist, Lead Museum Teacher, and Event Assistant, becoming the Education Manager in September 2019 and the Director of Education in May 2020. She has a Bachelor’s in Anthropology with minors in Classics and Psychology from the University of Pennsylvania and a Master’s of Arts in Museum Studies from George Washington University. She has experience interning and volunteering at the National Museum of  American History, the University of Pennsylvania Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology (where she was published on their blog and in their magazine Expedition), the Lee-Fendall House Museum, and the National Museum of American Jewish History. Sheridan is passionate about making history accessible and fun through interactive programming and exhibitions for all ages! She has developed original programming, performed object photography for databases, and contributed to exhibitions at the National Air and Space Museum, Lee-Fendall House, and Dumbarton House itself.

Sheridan joined Dumbarton House in August 2018.

Fun Fact: Sheridan tries to visit a museum in every city she visits. She’s currently been to over 100 museums and is always looking for new recommendations!
