Private Events

Belle Vue Room

Dumbarton House offers a setting that is stately, charming, and elegant for private events ranging from corporate luncheons, meetings and conferences to wedding ceremonies and receptions, garden and tea parties. The museum ‘s first floor is normally open as guests arrive, giving them an opportunity to view the period rooms.

Rentals include use of the 40-by-26-foot Belle Vue Room ballroom/banquet space and grounds. The Belle Vue Room is elegant and modern, with blond wood floors, walls painted a neutral Federal period-style yellow with accent panels of gold fabric, and 13-foot white coffered ceilings. The ballroom opens onto a courtyard paved with slate, where a tent can be erected to accomodate additional guests.

While every effort will be made to ensure that private events hosted at Dumbarton House are enjoyable and memorable, the need to preserve its period rooms and safeguard its collections makes it necessary for Dumbarton House to impose certain conditions in connection with events hosted here . The museum serves as the entry for guests at events on the premises. No food or beverages are permitted in the museum, however. No beverages that are red in color, including red wine, tomato juice, and cranberry juice, may be served at an open bar. They may however be served at a seated dinner. Event insurance is required. Insurance is available from wedsafe.com or rvnuccio.com. Tenting on the courtyard adjacent to the Belle Vue Room is required for any event with more than 80 seated guests and more than 140 standing guests. Please see the complete guidelines for additional information.
